R. Caroline Wheaton
R. Caroline Wheaton, 91, of Zelienople, entered the presence of her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, while under the care of Newhaven Court at Passavant Retirement Community, where she had been a resident for many years.
Born July 25, 1929, in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Loran W. Veith and Ruth Gardner Veith.
Caroline graduated from Zelienople High School, was a 1951 graduate of Geneva College and went on to graduate in 1953 from the former Philadelphia Bible Institute, now known as Caren Institute. She was a faithful member of Grace Church of Harmony. She led a life lived for Christ and was involved in many Christian organizations such as the R & E Church in Center City, Philadelphia, Faith Seminary, Pioneer Girls in Chicago, Girl Haven, Presbyterian Children’s Village, and the Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, where she was assistant to the Rev. Donald Grey Barnhouse. As a longtime resident at Passavant Retirement Community, she volunteered with community Bible study, voter registration, and Compassionate Friends. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother, Loran William “Bill” (Marjorie) Veith Jr. of Florida; her sisters, Mary (Dr. John “Jack”) White of Beaver Falls, Esther (William G. “Bill”) Ziegler of Evans City, and Lois (Robert G.) Taylor of Florida; many nieces and nephews, and numerous grandnieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Wheaton, who passed away on Jan. 25, 2008; and her brother, Daniel G. Veith.
Wheaton — The family of R. Caroline Wheaton, who died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Grace Church of Harmony, 538 Main St., Harmony.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Grace Church Cemetery.
