Butler Police10:45 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Edward Perry, 30, of Butler spun a complete turn after hitting a Jersey barrier in the southbound lane on Route 8. The car traveled into the northbound lane and struck the curb. Perry was cited for careless driving.9:04 p.m. Thursday — Three teenage boys reportedly threw stones at a 53-year-old Butler Township man's car at Broad and West New Castle streets. The man's car had a small crack in the windshield, causing about $150 in damage.
Butler Twp Police9:47 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Terrence McClimans, 45, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle on Route 422 between the Duffy Road and Mercer Road overpasses. The crash forced the vehicle driven by Edward McConnell, 50, of Karns City into the center divider, damaging the vehicle.McClimans' car traveled up an embankment and rolled over. McConnell and a passenger, who police did not identify, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
State Police, Butler11:09 a.m. Thursday — Vehicles driven by Bryan Merry, 29, of Madison, Ala., and Matti Schepp, 33, of Volant, Lawrence County, collided at Route 19 and Kildoo Road in Muddy Creek Township. Merry was cited for making an improper left turn.8:30 a.m. Wednesday — No one was injured when the engine compartment of a tractor-trailer caught fire on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. The driver, Robert Renison, 59, of Ontario, Canada. managed to pulled the rig off the road and get out safely.Portersville volunteer firefighters had to put out the fire but not before the truck tractor sustained heavy damage. The Butler County Hazardous Materials team and the state Department of Environmental Protection were also called after 75 to 100 gallons of diesel fuel from a ruptured fuel tank spilled on the ground.2:58 a.m. Wednesday — A tractor-trailer ran over at least two road signs on the Evans City exit ramp of Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. Police did not identify the driver, who was not cited.
