Monday — Police charged Tyler D. Smith, 26, of Butler with theft after he allegedly took 24 Suboxone pills and $20 from Mary Adams' purse Tuesday while in the back seat of her car at a store parking lot on West Jefferson Street. Police spoke to Smith about the case Wednesday at the Butler County Prison, where he had turned himself in on an unrelated warrant, a police report said. He denied the theft and claimed he was never in Adams' car Tuesday.
6:32 a.m. Saturday — Two people were injured in a suspected drunken driving crash on Schnur Road in Summit Township.The one-vehicle wreck happened when Timothy R. Thrower, 22, of Butler lost control of his pickup truck, struck an embankment and ended up in a field. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.Victoria D. Thrower, 18, of Butler, a passenger, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with serious injuries. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.Police said Timothy Thrower was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.3:15 p.m. Tuesday — Police said Garrett Martin, 35, of Butler violated a 31-year-old woman's protection from abuse order after he allegedly sent her a text message on his cell phone to a Fairview home. According to a recent police news release, Martin “continues to contact the victim and has fled from the police twice.” Police said in addition to the PFA violation, the suspect faces stalking charges.Nov. 7 — Police filed two felony charges against Christopher M. Banks, 31, of Butler stemming from the Oct. 28 theft of numerous copper fittings from Millspec Industries on Evans City Road in Forward Township.Police charged Banks with theft and receiving stolen property.
9:39 a.m. Saturday — James L. Deitrick, 63, of Grove City was badly hurt in a one-vehicle crash caused when he apparently suffered a stroke in Pine Township. Police said Deitrick lost control of his sport utility vehicle on Daugherty Road and struck the railing of a bridge that crosses Wolf Creek.Deitrick, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Helicopter and later flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with broken ribs and fractured facial bones.
12:15 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Elicia P. Cutchall, 20, of New Castle struck a mailbox and overturned along Route 388 just south of Currie Lane in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Cutchall, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor cut in the crash. Police said she was cited for careless driving.
