Shirley Jean Pickerd

Shirley Jean Pickerd, 88, of Butler passed away at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

She was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Pittsburgh to the late Fredrick William Bobst and Amelia Ann (Stelter) Bobst.

Mrs. Pickerd was a member of the Grace Lutheran at Calvary Church and had attended the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Lincoln Bakery in Butler.

Shirley enjoyed card playing, bingo, building puzzles and especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She liked decorating the dining hall for birthday dinners at the Arbor Apartments.

She is survived by two sons, John Pickerd and his wife, Rusty, of Butler and Larry Pickerd of Orange County, Texas; two daughters, Judy Voelker and her husband, Roger, of Butler and Cheryl Hays and her husband, Darrell, of Butler; seven grandchildren, Amanda Pollick, Ashlee Smochek, Taryn Hays, Tamara Finucan, Darrell Hays Jr., Frank Pickerd and John Dean Pickerd; nine great-grandchildren, Tristan and Jackson Pollick, Mason, Zarian, Teegan, Brogan, Lowen and Reilynn Finucan and Cierra Montoya; and one great-great-grandchild, Parker Montoya.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pickerd, who she married Nov. 4, 1972, and who passed away Sept. 17, 1998; one son, Frank Pickerd; two sisters, Ethel Lunz, and Myrtle Schultz; and three brothers, William, Wilbur and Harry Bobst.

PICKERD — Friends of Shirley Jean Pickerd, who died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church, 416 Center Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Matthew Perkins of the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church officiating.Private burial will take place at the Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made to the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church, 416 Center Ave., Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
