The Community Development Corporation of Butler County always is looking for new opportunities.

But while the organization explores its future, it continues to help businesses now, said Ken Raybuck, CDC executive director, on Tuesday.

Raybuck points to three properties that the CDC wants to fit with the right business: the Pullman Business Park in Butler, the former fertilizer store on Delwood Road in Butler Township, and 40 acres in the Victory Road Business Park in Clinton Township.

The CDC last summer finished infrastructure work on Pullman Park’s 30 acres and completed a 30,000-square-foot steel building there for sale or lease.

At 201 Delwood Road, the CDC is building a 14,700-square-foot steel building on almost 15 acres after years of site remediation and preparation.

And 10 years after it opened, the Victory Road park is down to its final 40 acres available for development.

“As the economy gets better, we are getting more calls. Since January, interest has been up,” Raybuck said.

As for new projects, Raybuck said most development groups such as the CDC are waiting to see what happens with state funding, especially for infrastructure work.

“We also are looking for new partnerships that can help make up for budget cuts,” he said.

The CDC is working with Butler County Community College, Slippery Rock University and Tri-County Industries to develop new educational opportunities and training programs “to get people qualified for the jobs that are out there and those that are coming to Butler County,” Raybuck said.

“We are looking for whatever it takes to keep moving forward, and to serve and help grow business and industry in Butler County.”
