YOUTH IN BRIEF

The Butler Eagle sports department is seeking reader input for its weekly youth sports page, which will consist of subject matter pertaining to all youth sports: baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, swimming, trapshooting, golf, cheerleading, tae kwon do, bowling, etc.

The Henderson Motorsports A's (17-2) recently captured the Meridian Farm League baseball title with a 10-7 win over Clifford's Astros.Team members include: Dalton Scott, Jace Stutz, Zachary Henderson, John Stutz, Nick Reamer, Eli Harvey, Connor Scott, Jonathan Fair, Jacob Stutz, Kelly Bintrim, Kyle Bintrim and Joel Stutz.

The North Main Street Church of God will host a girls basketball camp July 25 to 28. The Knoch Knights Youth Football Camp, for boys entering grades three through eight, takes place from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through WednesdayJuly 18 to 20.Cost is $35. Campers may pre-register by calling Mike King at 724-352-1700, ext. 4318. Registration will also be accepted Monday at the high school stadium.All campers receive a youth Knoch football, a Knoch football water bottle and a Knoch football T-shirt.The 2005 Titan Football Mini-Camp at Westminster College for grades three to nine will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 25 to 27.Cost is $50 per camper. Pickup recreational soccer games have been planned for boys and girls ages 7 to 17 beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Clay Township Park, Route 138 and Euclid School Road.Participants should bring gym shoes and water.

Signups for the Butler Area Midget Football League will be held July 23 and 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at Memorial Park.Players must reside in the Butler Area School District and can be ages 9 to 14. Boundaries will be strictly enforced.Each player must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian with a valid driver's license in order to sign up. Beaver Falls Baseball will be hosting a pair of round-robin tournaments at the new Tiger Field: one for players 14-and-under July 28 through 31 and one for players 16-and-under Aug. 4 through 7.Cost is $300 for either event and teams are guaranteed four games. The Karns City Area School District will hold its junior high summer soccer camp from 2 to 4 p.m. July 25 to 28 at Sugarcreek Elementary School.Cost is $70 ($20 second child discount). The 14th annual Soccer Express Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon for U-6 to U-14 players and from 6 to 9 p.m. for goalkeepers Monday through next Friday at the Butler Soccer Complex.Cost is $85. Call 724-285-1480 for more information.

Geneva College will host World Cup Soccer camps for boys and girls, under the leadership of Tornadoes coach Dave Murray.Sessions are Sunday through Thursday for ages 13 to 17.Cost is $345 for each resident camper, which includes accommodations at the college. The East Butler Baseball Association's fourth annual Appreciation Day will be held July 24.The alumni game is slated for 2 p.m., a memorial ceremony at 4 p.m. when Chuck Hetrick and Kevin Fencil will be honored. The 54th annual Ellwood City Little League Tournament will begin the weekend of July 23 at the Ewing Park Baseball Complex.The double-elimination event includes throwing and running competitions and a home run derby. Teams must be drawn from one baseball association with a population that does not exceed 20,000. Travel teams are not permitted.Entry fee is $125. Call 724-758-0516 for details.
