Youth In Brief

The Butler Eagle sports department is seeking reader input for its weekly youth sports page, which will consist of subject matter pertaining to all youth sports.

Brett Rinker, 10, of Slippery Rock won the most recent North East Junior Golf Tournament held at the Golf Club at Somerset.Rinker shot a 44-41-85 to win the 10-11 age group.

Brian Routhieaux of Mars fired a 73 to capture the Division B Boys division of the keystone Public Golf Association P.J. Boatwright Junior Qualifier at Green Meadows Golf Course in Volant Monday.Ryan Prokay of Grove City placed third in the boys Division C bracket with an 84, two strokes behind the winner.

The Karns City Youth Football League will begin practice Monday at the youth center. Practice runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.The league is for youths ages 8 to 12. Call 724-445-458 for details.

The North Main Street Church of God will host a girls basketball camp Monday through Thursday. The 2005 Titan Football Mini-Camp at Westminster College for players in grades three to nine will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday throughJuly 25 to 27.Cost is $50 per camper. For more information, call 724-946-7312.

Pickup recreational soccer games have been planned for boys and girls ages 7 to 17 beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Clay Township Park, Route 138 and Euclid School Road.Participants should bring gym shoes and water.

Signups for the Butler Area Midget Football League will be held Saturday and July 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at Memorial Park.Players must reside in the Butler Area School District and can be ages 9 to 14. Boundaries will be strictly enforced.Each player must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian with a valid driver's license in order to sign up. Beaver Falls Baseball will be hosting a pair of round-robin tournaments at the new Tiger Field: one for players 14-and-under Thursday through July 31 and one for players 16-and-under Aug. 4 through 7.Cost is $300 for either event and teams are guaranteed four games. The Karns City Area School District will hold its junior high summer soccer camp from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Sugarcreek Elementary School.Cost is $70 ($20 second child discount). The East Butler Baseball Association's fourth annual Appreciation Day will be held Sunday.The alumni game is slated for 2 p.m., a memorial ceremony is at 4 p.m., when Chuck Hetrick and Kevin Fencil will be honored.
