CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Area Diversity Network is hosting an expo to showcase people with special needs.

The Abilities Expo will run from 4 to 9 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. Special guests Jon Kolb, a former Steeler; Dan McCoy, a Paralympic gold medalist; and Joe Grushecky, a Pittsburgh rock musician, will discuss their own experiences with special needs at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.

The event is free. It is sponsored by the township, Cranberry Public Library, Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA and the Cranberry Area Diversity Network’s Special Needs Coalition.

There will also be two 45-minute panel discussions at 5 p.m. at 8:15 p.m. Resource tables from organizations offering information and services to the special needs community will also be available.

There will be specialist presentations concerning diagnosis, education and advocacy at 6:15 p.m.

[naviga:h3]Firefighters hold meat fundraiser[/naviga:h3]

HARMONY — The Harmony Fire District has announced its second raffle of the year — one in which two lucky winners will each take home a half side of beef.

The money raised in the raffle will go to benefit the Harmony Fire District in its efforts to provide fire and emergency response services to the Harmony and Zelienople area.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at Matthew Jewelry, the fire station on Monday nights, or by contacting Harmony Fire District members.

The winning number will be drawn at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24.

George Family Farms of Zelienople is providing the steer and Wright Meat Packing will be processing the meat.
