Members of American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and local residents commemorated Flag Day Sunday at the memorial site next to Butler Township Volunteer Fire District.

A firetruck raised an American flag over the celebration, which was attended by veterans, families and local government officials.

The annual ceremony celebrates June 14, 1777, when the flag was first adopted by the new United States of America.
