Commissioners meeting

Have you been to a Wednesday morning commissioners meeting lately? If so, you have probably witnessed the random rules and restrictions handed out by our county solicitor, Wil White. You might wonder if we can have a Q&A period with the commissioners during the public comment time of the meeting, but nope, not possible. You might wonder if you could turn around and face the other people attending the meeting during your three-minute window of time to make comments, but nope, not possible. Wil White insists you must face the front of the room and look at the commissioners.

Really? Based on what rules or guidelines? Multiple people have tried for months now to even get a copy of the meeting rules which are required to be posted in a location accessible to the public, according to the county code. Not only are they not posted in the county building for people to see, but they aren’t posted anywhere on the county website. And, even worse, despite direct requests to Wil White asking him to provide a copy of the meeting rules, he has failed to do so. Even when one of the people requesting a copy of the meeting rules happened to be a fellow attorney, Wil White still did not provide them.

So, under what authority is he randomly spouting out rules and restrictions on we the people, who are attending these meetings? He seems to forget that we are the people for whom the commissioners and the solicitor work. What a slap in the face to all of us who work hard to pay the taxes that pay for their salaries and perks.
