The Butler junior high boys track and field team extended its dual-meet winning streak to 42 with a 105-22 win over Seneca Valley recently.

Earning first-place finishes in individual events for the Golden Tornado were Byron Minous in the 110-meter high hurdles and 100 meters, Matt Christy in the 400, Christopher Short in the 800, Tyler Widenhofer in the 200, Wesley Macurdy in the long jump and triple jump, Josh Boozel in the pole vault and Cody Jones in the shot put.

The Tornado's 400-meter relay team of Christy, Minous, Robert Burdine and Widenhofer also placed first, as did the 1,600-meter relay unit of Burdine, Christy, Widenhofer and Austin Grupp.

Butler's junior high girls also defeated Seneca Valley, 87-40.

First-place finishers in individual events were Rachel Weyand in the 1,600 meters and 3,200, Macy Stalnecker in the 400 and 800, Kalynn Callihan in the shot put, Julia Baxter in the long jump and high jump, Alyssa DiPippa in the triple jump and Alissa Wulff in the pole vault.

Butler's 400-meter relay team of Abby Fugh, Tiffany Stewart, Nikki Nanni and Alexis Frenchak, along with the 1,600-meter relay unit of Caitlin Blum, Courtney Sullivan, DiPippa and Stalnecker, placed first as well.

Butler Junior High defeated Ellwood City 6-5, as Rhiannon Kosar had a triple, a double and a single, Christen Davis had two singles, and Hope Wonderling, Kristen Walker, Hanna Kabay and Emily McDonald each had a single.
