PENN TWP — The Jazz Cabaret series hosted by Brooks and Helen Bartlett will begin its sixth season at Conley Resort.The new series begins Aug. 21 with The Lisa Bleil Trio featuring Lisa on vocals, Benny Benack II on reeds, John Burgh on keyboard, and Brian Stahurski on bass.The series' intent is to deliver a sophisticated jazz club of the '40s and '50s.The show will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at the resort at 740 Pittsburgh Road.Admission is $12.50 with cash bar, and free appetizers and parking. AVELLA, Washington County — Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village, part of the Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center museum system, will host a Vintage Base Ball Game at noon Aug. 17.The Somerset Frosty Sons of Thunder and the Addison Mountain Stars will wear vintage uniforms and play by the rules commonly used during the 1860s.The game is included with regular Meadowcroft admission of $15 for adults, $14 for senior citizens, and $7 for students and children ages 6 to 17.
