Wednesday — Police discovered an apparent break-in at Grace Lutheran Church on East Diamond Street.A patrol officer noticed the front door at the church appeared to have been forced open. Police searched inside but found nothing else suspicious or missing. The door had minor damage.Wednesday — A black, Toshiba DVD player and three jewelry boxes with assorted jewelry were reported stolen during a burglary at an apartment in the 500 block of North McKean Street.Wednesday — Police found a 14-year-old boy accused of cutting off his electronic monitoring bracelet Sunday and fleeing his home. Butler County juvenile probation authorities notified police after they discovered the boy missing.Police arrested him on Route 8 South. He is charged with escape.
5:39 p.m. Tuesday — A teenage youth was arrested after a suspected domestic dispute in the 300 block of West Main Street. The 17-year-old suspect, who police did not identify, faces charges of simple assault and harassment in juvenile court.State Police, Butler4:35 p.m. Wednesday — Steven M. Ulyas, 41, of Delmont, Westmoreland County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle broke down and he became involved in an argument with his passenger on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.Saturday — Police announced they are seeking information from the public in hopes of finding a 16-year-old runaway boy.The boy, Daniel Paul Morehead, was last seen about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at his home on Patterson Road in Worth Township about 10:30 p.m.He is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and about 130 pounds with brown hair, blue eyes and “chin strap-style” facial hair. Anyone who knows of the boy's whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.3:09 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Gregory J. Blystone, 18, of Saxonburg rear-ended a car on Dinnerbell Road east of Frazier Road in Jefferson Township. Blystone was cited for following too closely to another vehicle. A 16-year-old Butler boy was driving the car.Friday — An unknown vandal knocked over a wooden billboard on the Butler-Freeport Community Trail at Protzman Road in Summit Township. Anyone with information about the vandalism that happened between 4 and 5:30 p.m. is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
Tuesday — A thief stole six garage bags filled with empty aluminium cans from a home on Baum Station Road in Boggs Township. The theft happened between May 18 and Tuesday.
4:03 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Donald M. Brown, 48, of Pittsburgh crashed and rolled over on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Brown was cited for driving with worn tires.May 16 — Alan G. Coast, 28, was arrested on charges he injured a 2-year-old boy at his home on Henderson Road in Sandy Lake Township on May 15. The boy's mother contacted authorities after she returned to the home from work and discovered the child's injuries.Coast was arraigned on charges of simple assault and child endangerment, and placed in Mercer County Jail on $25,000 bail.
