Cranberry gallery features variety of art
CRANBERRY TWP — During the month of September, Gayle Shubert and Paul and Jan Jay will have art showing at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road.
Hosted by the Cranberry Artists Network, Shubert's work will be shown in the Back Hall Gallery, and the Jays are exhibiting in the large Showcase near the Back Hall.
On Sept. 7, an artist's reception is planned. They will be there to talk about their work from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Shubert received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in painting and art history from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1974. She then worked part-time as a docent for the Carnegie Museum's Sarah Scaife Art Gallery.
Her grandson recently introduced her to oil pastel, she said.
“I love the medium and the vibrant colors. I feel like a 'newbie' in the art world again!” exclaimed Shubert, adding she is “enjoying experimenting and learning with each new piece.”The Jays are Harmony residents.Paul Jay is from Little Rock, Ark., and has a master of fine arts from Ohio University. He is a retired professor of art from Community College of Allegheny County.Jan Jay is from Kansas and has a bachelor of fine arts from the Art Institute and School of Design in Kansas City.She has shown her work locally and nationally, has won many awards, and has work in private collections.All the artwork can be viewed whenever the municipal center is open.For more information, visit www.cranberryartistsnetwork.com.
