Walking tour will cover history, homes

The E.E. Abrams house on North McKean Street in Butler and its connection to Mark Twain and Abraham Lincoln will be part of the Historic Mansions of Butler Walking Tour on Saturday.

The connections of Butler homes to Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain, John D. Rockefeller, John Muir and the Underground Railroad will be described as part of a walking tour on Saturday.

Bill May will present Historic Mansions of Butler Walking Tour beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday in the neighborhood of North McKean, East Fulton and East Pearl streets.

Participants on the 90-minute walk will travel about a half-mile and hear the stories of the builders of these beautifully preserved homes as well as their connections to famous Americans and events.

Rare photographs of the homes and the people who built them will be shown during the tour.

The tour does not go in the houses.

Rain date is Sept. 8.
