CRANBERRY TWP - Butler County Community College's Adult Literacy Program is offering free tutor training workshops from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 13 at the BC3 Cranberry Center.
At the workshop, the attendees will be introduced to the program's role, the characteristics and learning styles of adult learners and the instructional materials used with adults. Attendees must complete both sessions to receive tutor certification.
Volunteer tutors are the backbone of the Adult Literacy Program. To join this growing number of individuals who help adults improve their reading or math skills, or learn English as a second language. All tutoring is done in Butler County.

JEFFERSON TWP - The second installment of the "Families Celebrating Math" workshop series for parents and fourth grade students in the South Butler School District will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at South Butler Intermediate Elementary School.This workshop will provide parents and guardians with math skills and strategies needed to support their child with homework and test preparation.For information, call 724-352-1700.
BUTLER TWP - A workshop to help parents and students of Butler High School prepare for the college admissions and financial aid process will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Butler Senior High School cafeteria.College representatives will present information on admissions at state system, state-related, private and career schools.From 7 to 8 p.m., college admissions will be discussed, and from 8 to 9 p.m. financial aid tips will be given.For information, call 724-214-3211.
