Landscape exhibit opens Monday at SRU gallery

“Toadstool Duckface Diptych” by Katherine Mickle is one of the many photographs, drawings and videos presented in “Between A Rock & A Hard Place” at the Martha Gault Art Gallery.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The exhibit “Between A Rock & A Hard Place” by Katherine Mickle will open Monday at the Martha Gault Art Gallery, 108 Maltby Ave.

An opening reception is planned for 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. The exhibition will run through Oct. 24.

Mickle presents a mixed- media landscape exhibition including photography, drawing and video.

Badlands formations are contrasted through time, place and the correlation of life experiences.

She continues her ongoing investigations of Badlands National Park in South Dakota.

Her recent travel to other badlands sites in Nebraska, Utah and Wyoming complements and informs her past research.

Inspired by the rugged terrains, she attempts to make sense of the world through her artwork.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. It will be closed Oct. 7 and 8.

The gallery is in room 102 of the Maltby Building.
