SLIPPERY ROCK — Borough council has a new president for the first time in several years.

Regina Greenwald was unanimously voted as the board’s new president at the board meeting Tuesday night.

She replaces Dave Miller who will still serve as a councilman for the rest of the year, but stepped down from his role as president.

Miller is in his eighth year on council and his seventh year as president, but opted not to run for re-election to spend more time with his family, Greenwald said.

Greenwald said she is looking forward to leading the board.

“I have a serious interest in what goes on in this community,” she said.

Ron Steele will remain vice president and Ken Harris will remain second vice president.

Four of the board’s seven positions are up for election this November.

The board will reorganize and can elect a new president in January 2016.
