Butler Police11:41 p.m. Sunday — John J. Aaron, 37, of Butler was caught allegedly stealing two fishing poles from a pickup truck in the 200 block of East Brady Street.A patrolman spotted Aaron “quickly stand up” next to the truck as the officer drove by, according to court documents. The officer stopped the suspect, who smelled of alcohol. On the ground next to him, police said, were the fishing poles and a small propane grill.Aaron allegedly admitted to stealing the items. Police believe he took the fishing poles from Jay Hoshak’s truck and stole the grill from David Jackson’s front porch in the 200 block of East Brady.Police charged Aaron with theft, receiving stolen property, theft from a vehicle, loitering and prowling at night and public drunkenness.
Butler Twp. Police8:48 p.m. Saturday — Ronald Gibson Sr., 44, of Chicora faces several charges in connection with a disturbance outside of the Butler Memorial Hospital emergency room. Gibson is accused of arguing with a woman and pushing her to the floor. The woman, who police did not identify in a news release, suffered minor injuries to her head.Police charged Gibson with disorderly conduct and harassment.The suspect, according to a police report, had been taken to the hospital following an altercation with his family in Lyndora. During that incident about 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Gibson, who allegedly had been drinking, lost his balance and hit his head on the edge of a doorway and a brick in the street.Police said Gibson crawled across the road where officers found him. He was treated at BMH for a head injury. Police cited him for public drunkenness in that incident.
Grove City Police1:38 a.m. Saturday — Carl A. Shipton, 38, of Grove City was arrested for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest stemming from an incident in the 100 block of South Broad Street.10:30 a.m. Friday — Ruth Welsh, 58, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Mill and Blair streets.She was also charged with a traffic violation.Friday — An unspecified amount of money was recovered at the Save-A-Lot parking lot on Mill Street. The owner can claim the money at the police station at 337 E. Pine St.
State Police, Butler2:30 p.m. Monday — Andrew J. Safranek, no age given, of Butler was arrested after allegedly shoplifting an Electrolux vacuum cleaner from the Boscov’s store, Clearview Mall in Center Township.11:40 p.m. Sunday — Valerie J. Fugh, 53, of New Castle was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her car crashed and rolled over an embankment on Route 422 at the Interstate 79 off-ramp in Muddy Creek Township. Fugh, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.3:50 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Xiao Ming Yang, 44, of Ontario, Canada, rear-ended another car on I-79 in Lancaster Township. Police said Yang was cited for following too closely to another vehicle. Jianhong Du, 46, also of Ontario, was the other driver.2:55 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Donald V. Koch, 70, of East Amherst, N.Y., struck a guardrail and ended in the median on I-79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said Koch was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.10:09 p.m. Thursday — Trinidy Barksdale, 33, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of DUI on East Jefferson Street, near Monroe Street, in Butler.

A Mayport, Clarion County, woman owns the minivan.3:10 a.m. Sunday — Arthur F. Walker IV, 22, of Templeton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 268 in East Franklin Township.Thursday — Police cited the PNC Bank after responding to the fifth false emergency alarm at the Freeport branch within the past five months.10:37 p.m. Wednesday — David N. Jones Jr., 41, of Renfrew was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Glade Run Road and Route 422 in East Franklin Township.1:15 a.m. Wednesday — An unknown vandal damaged numerous mailboxes on several roads in South Buffalo Township.
State Police, Mercer7:07 p.m. Monday — A suspected shoplifter was badly hurt when she crashed her car in an attempted getaway in Springfield Township. Police said the alleged shoplifter, Eugene M. Russo, 28, of New Castle, had fled the Premium Outlets and was westbound on Route 208 when she lost control of car near Leesburg Station Road.Police said Russo, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries.
