Thursday — Police filed two bad checks charges against Emerald L. Adamik, 26, of Butler, who is accused of bouncing a pair of checks for a combined $120.70 at Friedman's market on West Brady Street.

7:30 a.m. Wednesday — Alexander Cash Jr., 29, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a 27-year-old Butler woman. Cash is charged with simple assault and harassment.

Wednesday — Police reported they have charged a 15-year-old Volant boy and a 16-year-old Grove City boy with the June 1 break-in at 123 Grant St.The youths are charged in Mercer County juvenile court with burglary, theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.

12:10 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Sarah E. Kotlinski, 20, of New Castle struck an embankment and a utility pole along Route 208 in Springfield Township. Police said Kotlinski, who was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, was cited for a lane violation.

10:45 a.m. Wednesday — A thief driving a sport utility vehicle stole a log splitter from the yard of a home on Cooper Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The log splitter is on a red frame with black components.A police news release did not specify if authorities have a suspect in the theft. The suspect vehicle is a teal green Ford Explorer, possibly from the mid-1990s.
