11:14 p.m. Thursday — Robin M. Cumberland, 56, was arrested for allegedly holding a kitchen knife to the throat of her son, 36-year-old Ronald Carben, during a domestic dispute at their South Washington Street home.Carben said when he raised his hands to defend himself, the knife cut a finger on his right hand, according to a police report.Cumberland was placed in Butler County Prison pending arraignment this morning on a charge of simple assault, police said12:15 a.m. Thursday — Scott Simpson, 29, of Davidsville, Somerset County, is charged with hit-and-run after the sport utility vehicle he was driving struck another SUV parked on Mercer Street. Police said Simpson drove away after the crash.Officers found Simpson about two hours after the wreck. He told police the accident happened after he dropped a doughnut. When he reached for the doughnut, he lost control of his vehicle, sideswiping a utility pole and hitting James Huselton's SUV.Simpson claimed he did not stop or notify authorities because he was "scared," a police report said.6:56 p.m. Wednesday — Police and Butler firefighters had to help a 53-year-old Butler man after he fell off the West Cunningham Street bridge into a creek below.Police said Robert Spahn was "extremely intoxicated" when they found him. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Spahn is charged with public drunkenness.

Thursday — Police charged Georgette R. Fleeger, 39, of West Sunbury in connection with the July 16 theft of four checks taken from 40-year-old Robin McCartney of Chicora.Fleeger is accused of forging some of the checks that she cashed for $285 at a Prospect convenience store. Fleeger is charged with forgery and receiving stolen property.Tuesday — A Nintendo Wii video game system and about $500 was stolen between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. in a burglary at a home in the 800 block of Sunset Drive in Center Township.July 21 — Burglars took about $15 after breaking into Shurina's restaurant in Jefferson Township. The business sustained $200 in damage in the burglary between 1 and 4 a.m.

July 4 — An unknown thief stole a canoe from the backyard of a home on Shaffer Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The theft happened between June 27 and July 4.
