Genevieve M. Lakin

Genevieve M. Lakin, 90, of 325 W. Jefferson St. died Aug. 27 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born March 6, 1918, in Greensburg, she was a daughter of the late Ralph G. and Stella Roadman Lakin.

Genevieve worked in the operating room and in patient services at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center until her retirement in 1972. She also worked as a volunteer for many years for the Butler County Unit of the American Cancer Society and the Butler County Help Line services.

She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Butler.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas H. Whitman of Adelanto, Calif., and David Schwartz and John J. "Jack" Schwartz of West Harwick, R.I.; three daughters, Judith A. Spinder of New York City, Mrs. Ilona (Hurley) Meeks of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Charmaine (John) Bradley of Canoga Park, Calif.; a sister, Arvetta Ciampa of Jeannette; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in the Westmoreland County area.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

<B>LAKIN </B>— Private funeral services for Genevieve M. Lakin, who died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, were held for her family. The Rev. James Dollhopf, pastor of First English Lutheran Church, officiated. Interment was in Twin Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Delmont.Arrangements were by the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, and information is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
