3:47 a.m. Wednesday — Michael G. Skovron, 27, of Erie was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 South near the Days Inn. Police said Skovron also faces citations for speeding and an open container violation.7:08 p.m. Tuesday — John Best, 22, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant after police spotted him in a vehicle at the Sheetz parking lot on Evans City Road. Police searched him and found a small plastic vial containing suspected marijuana.Best, who was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant, is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.2:20 p.m. Monday — A 17-year-old student was caught with a suspected marijuana pipe in his locker at the Butler Area Vocational-Technical School. The boy is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

4:40 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Christopher M. Yaklich, 25, of Butler rear-ended another car on Route 8 just south of Dinnerbell Road in Penn Township. Police said Yaklich was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. Nick Palazzetti, 67, of Butler was the other driver.Wednesday — An unknown burglar made off with a Bose Wave music system from a home on Moore Road in West Liberty. The break-in happened between 7 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.

12:19 p.m. Wednesday — A teenager held at the Youth Development Center in Shenango Township is accused of spitting in the face of staff member Beth Brendlinger, 44, of Freeport.The suspect, a 17-year-old boy, spit at the staffer in “retaliation for (the staffer) finding and removing contraband from his room at the (facility)” according to a police report.The boy is charged in juvenile court with aggravated harassment by a prisoner.

7:32 p.m. Sunday — Kenneth R. Tack, 65, of Chicora was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was driving struck the side of a car on Route 68 at the entrance to the AutoZone store in Monroe Township. Tack, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Clarion Hospital with a “major injury,” a police report said.Police said Gilbert E. Slaugenhaupt, 63, of Clarion, who was driving the car, was cited for making an improper left turn.

1:35 a.m. Friday — Tyree J. Basham, 20, was arrested after allegedly shoving his girlfriend head first into a door and slamming her 14-year-old son on a kitchen table during a domestic dispute at his North Board Street home.Basham is charged with two counts each of simple assault and of harassment. He is free on $25,000 unsecured bail.
