A Butler man was sentenced to state prison on two cases, which included drug delivery and assault, in Butler County Court on Thursday.

Craig T. Taylor, 27, was sentenced to 18 months to three years in a state correctional facility by county Judge Timothy McCune, after previously pleading guilty to felony delivery of a controlled substance, and two counts of misdemeanor simple assault.

He was also ordered to pay $200 in fines.

Taylor was initially charged by the Butler County Drug Task Force with four felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, one count of criminal use of a communication facility and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance after an incident on Aug. 26.

Police said Taylor sold 10 stamp bags of heroin and a rock of crack cocaine to an undercover officer in Butler on West Wayne Street.

The assault charges stem from an incident on Oct. 25, 2015. He was initially charged by Butler City police after they were called to 402 Virginia Ave., where Taylor's girlfriend reported that during an argument, Taylor pushed her, causing her to fall and hit her head on a wall.

The woman was also holding her 4-year-old daughter, who also hit her head on the ground, according to the affidavit of probable cause. Both were treated at the Butler Memorial Hospital emergency room, the document states.

When Taylor was arrested, police said he was found in possession of a bag of crack cocaine.
