Joseph 'Marty' LoBue
Joseph Martin “Marty” LoBue, 66, of Mars, formerly of Cranberry Township and originally from Townville, Pa., passed away Thursday.
Born Oct. 14, 1948 in Meadville, he was the only child of Mariano J. and Dalia LoBue.
He graduated from Townville (Maplewood) High School in 1966, attended Allegheny College and received a bachelor of science degree in education in 1970 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he was a cum laude graduate.
Joe worked for more than 25 years with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management in a variety of management positions in Philadelphia, New York City, Chicago and Boyers.
He was one of the original executives at the U.S. Investigations Services (USIS) when it was created in 1996 and retired from USIS’ Grove City office as corporate director of employee relations in 2008.
Joe then began his own consulting business, JML Human Resource Consulting, LLC, in Mars.
He was active in the community, serving on the advisory council for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County where he also served as its president.
He was a member of the executive committee for the Butler County Heart Walk and served on a number of committees for the United Way of Butler County.
Joe also served on the board of directors for the Butler County Children’s Center.
He was a longtime member of the men’s Barbershop Harmony Society, where he won an international gold medal in 1987 as a member of the Westtowns Chorus of Lombard, Ill. Joe was a member of the Butler Notable Barbershop Chorus; Hourglass, a barbershop quartet that made several recordings, and Crossroads, an a cappella mixed voice jazz quartet.
He was a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, the Butler Human Resource Association, the Butler County Chamber of Commerce and St. Kilian Catholic Church.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of Albion, Pa., Mary Ann (Sedor) LoBue, who he married in 1971; his two sons, Christopher LoBue and his wife, Seanna, and their son Quincy of Lexington, Ky., and Michael LoBue and his wife, Julia, and their two children, Angelina and Anthony of Leesburg, Va.
LOBUE — The family of Joseph Martin “Marty” LoBue, who died Thursday, May 28, 2015, will welcome friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township, at which a farewell message from Joe will be presented.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Kilian Catholic Church, 212 Hook St., Mars with The Rev. Charles S. Bober, celebrant. Friends are welcome to join the family at the funeral home at 8:45 a.m. or proceed directly to church.
He will be laid to rest privately later by his family.
