High school musicals receive accolades
MIDLAND, Beaver County — Several musicals by Butler County schools are up for honors in this year’s Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards.
These are for outstanding student achievement in high school musical theater in Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence counties.
The nominees from 31 schools will be honored Sunday at a private reception at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. The awards ceremony will be at the center on May 30 and will feature performances by several nominated productions.
Here are the nominees from high schools in the Butler County area:
The nominees for Outstanding Overall Production are Knoch, “Anything Goes;” Mars, “Shrek the Musical;” Seneca Valley, “The Addams Family;” and Slippery Rock, “The Addams Family.”

William Craig as Wolf, “Shrek the Musical,” Karns City; Nick DeLeone as Gingy, “Shrek the Musical,” Mars; Abbey Schandelmeir as Mrs. Darbus, “Disney’s High School Musical,” Moniteau; Owen Flemming as Lurch, “The Addams Family,” Seneca Valley.
