Klimack 60th anniversary

Gloria and Walter Klimack

Walter and Gloria Klimack of Harmony celebrated 60 years of marriage with a family dinner Sept. 6 at the Waterhole Restaurant in Harmony and will enjoy an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 14 at Zion Lutheran Church in Harmony.

Klimack married the former Gloria Sankey on Sept. 6, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church.

They have two children, Barbara Echard of Leetonia, Ohio, and Patricia Ziegler of Harmony. A son, James Klimack, is deceased.

They also have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Klimack is a retired lithographer from Pickwick in Pittsburgh. He served as a Butler County tax assessor, a Boy Scout secretary for more than 25 years and helped to start the Community Group of Middle Lancaster, which is no longer together. At Zion Lutheran Church, he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher, council member, Luther League youth group leader and he printed the weekly bulletin.

Mrs. Klimack, as a retired Tupperware manager, is a homemaker. She started the Butler County Blood Bank, helped start the Community Group of Middle Lancaster and served on the Butler-Lancaster Township Election Board for more than 15 years. At Zion Lutheran Church, she served as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, council member and organized the Zionettes, now part of W.E.L.C.A.
