Robert W. “Bob” Bell
Robert W. “Bob” Bell, 89, of Renfrew, formerly of North Washington, passed away at 8:24 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Bob was born Oct. 31, 1929, in West Sunbury, and was a son of the late Sylvester A. Bell and the late Lucille P. (Pearl) Wilson Bell.
After growing up on the family farm, Bob joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
Upon his return home, he worked at various jobs in the local area before settling in as a locomotive mechanic at Armco Steel, from where he retired after 33 years.
Bob served his community as a member of the North Washington Volunteer Fire Department since 1949, including several years as volunteer fire chief. He was a member of the Fire Chiefs Association and the emergency management coordinator for northern Butler County for many years.
After retiring from Armco, Bob was very active and enjoyed working part-time transporting trucks for Hunter Truck Sales.
In his later years, he enjoyed going out to eat, spending time with his family, watching sports and listening to country music.
Bob is survived by his companion, Mary Ziegler of Renfrew; three daughters, Kathleen Bell (Tim Anderson) of Millbury, Ohio, Kim (Don) Carothers of Butler, and Robyn (Steve) Zampella of Palm Harbor, Fla.; one nephew; several nieces; and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and an infant brother, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Lee; and his brothers, Les, Lew and Merle.
BELL — A viewing for Bob Bell, who died Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at North Washington United Presbyterian Church, North Washington.A remembrance will be held following the viewing at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.Arrangements were entrusted to William F.
