[naviga:h3]BlueSox open 2018 season on road[/naviga:h3]
The Butler BlueSox will open the 2018 Prospect League season May 31 at Champion City in Springfield, Ohio.
The team will play a two-game series there before opening its home schedule at 6:35 p.m. June 2 against West Virginia. The BlueSox will again compete in the East Division with Champion City, Chillicothe, Kokomo and West Virginia.
The six-team West Division comprises Danville, Quincy and Springfield in Illinois, Lafayette and Terre Haute in Indiana, Hannibal in Missouri.
[naviga:h3]BC3 basketball falls in weekend games[/naviga:h3]
The Butler County Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams dropped a pair of games over the weekend.
The Pioneer men (1-12) lost 138-73 to Columbus State Community College and 119-65 to Cayuga CC out of New York. Brendan Record scored 28 points, Joel Stutz 17 and Jace Stutz 10 in the first game. Record had 20 points, Jordan Sager 16 points and Joel Stutz eight rebounds in the second.
The Pioneer women (1-12) lost 116-67 to Columbus State CC despite 29 points and 21 rebounds by Mackenzie Craig and 17 points from Carly Burdett. BC3 lost 73-65 to Cayuga CC as Craig had 34 points and 17 rebounds, Burdett 22 points and 17 boards.
