Friday — Police charged Kyle J. Atwood, 23, of Butler with selling a stolen dirt bike to an unwitting buyer.The alleged victim, Michael Zabicki of Butler, told police he bought the bike for $700 from a man at an East Brady Street home on Jan. 17.But following the sale, Zabicki's parents read in the newspaper that state police were investigating the reported theft of a dirt bike in Kittanning, according to court documents. A check confirmed that the vehicle identification number of the stolen bike matched that of the bike Zabicki bought.Police said Zabicki identified Atwood from a photograph as the person who sold him the bike. Atwood is charged with a felony count of receiving stolen property.
10:40 a.m. Tuesday — A vehicle driven by Sandra Hughes, 64, of Renfrew spun into an embankment off Route 422 in Summit Township before rolling onto its roof. Hughes, who was not injured, was cited for not driving at a safe speed.Monday — Ryan Sadecky, 25, of Winfield Township reported his truck was broken into while it was parked at 1202 Cornplanter Road. Several CDs, some cash and a flashlight were stolen between 4 p.m. Sunday and 3 p.m. Monday. Anyone with information about the theft should call police at 724-284-8100.8 p.m. Sunday — Mark A. Musser, 31, of Renfrew was arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, 31-year-old Renea Burkhart, during a dispute at an Isaac Lane home in Connoquenessing Township.Musser was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.7:37 p.m. Sunday — A pickup driven by Thomas Hall, 53, of Petrolia and a car driven by a 16-year-old Chicora boy collided on Route 38 in Concord Township.1:13 a.m. Thursday — Rachelle Irene Robinson, 36, of Butler was charged Monday with two counts of providing false identification to law enforcement following a traffic stop in which she was a passenger.Jan. 19 — Someone broke the mirror off a car owned by Seth Mathews, 19, of Slippery Rock while it was parked outside the Ivy Apartments on Vineyard Circle in Slippery Rock Township between 5 p.m. Jan. 18 and 9:30 a.m. Jan. 19.9:49 p.m. Jan. 15 — Crystal Lynn Koebler-Orloski, 40, of Gibsonia was arrested for driving under the influence and reckless endangerment after allegedly driving to the Butler barracks while intoxicated with three juvenile passengers.
Monday — A Butler Township man received numerous calls with the area code of 876 requesting him to send money to receive contest winnings. Police report this is a scam and warn residents to not send money in response to unsolicited phone calls.
