Tuesday — Laura Halstead, 43, of Worthington, Armstrong County, allegedly lied May 4 when she told police that someone had stolen her purse from her vehicle at the Wal-Mart store in Butler Commons.Police, however, reported that after reviewing security video at the store, they determined no one had entered Halstead's vehicle. Police on Tuesday charged her with false reports to police.3:16 p.m. Monday — Two people were hurt when vehicles driven by Randy Schuller, 32, and Kellie Hertz, 44, both of Butler, collided on Old Plank Road near the South Butler fire station. Both drivers suffered minor injuries.Police said Schuller, who fled the scene but was caught a short time later, faces unspecified traffic violations in the crash.1:54 a.m. Friday — Kristi N. Fair, 23, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Hansen Avenue. Police also cited Fair for driving without head lights on and speeding.
Monday — A large, light tan purse was stolen from the Tower Presbyterian Church on South Broad Street. Police said the purse was taken from the basement of the church between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.The purse contained banking cards and other personal identity information. Anyone with any information about the theft is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.
12:01 a.m. Tuesday — A Venango County man was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving hit a deer on Route 308 in Marion Township. Robert S. Foster, 52, of Polk, who was wearing a helmet, suffered moderate injuries when the collision with the deer knocked the cycle on its right side.10:15 p.m. April 30 — Michelle L. Dressecker, 34, of Gibsonia was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Routes 68 and 422 in Summit Township.12:05 a.m. April 30 — Stephen A. May, 29, of Grove City was seriously hurt after the car he was driving crashed into a guardrail, became airborne and landed on its roof in a field along Route 8 near Route 108 in Slippery Rock Township.A medical helicopter flew May to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with undisclosed injuries. Ian A. McClintock, 23, of Hermitage, Mercer County, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken by ambulance to Grove City Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.Police said the crash remains under investigation.
Monday — Several guns, jewelry, a safe and collectible coins were among the items stolen in a burglary at a home in the 600 block of Springfield Church Road in Pine Township. The break-in happened between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.Stolen from the house was a 9 mm Smith & Wesson pistol, .357-caliber Ruger stainless steel revolver, .22-caliber semi-automatic Remington rifle and a 12-gauge pump shotgun.
