Moran

Eleanor Marie Rose Moran, 92, of 227 N. Monroe St. and formerly of Moran Road in Butler died Friday at her home.

She was born Sept. 20, 1915, in Jenners, Pa., a daughter of Glenn W. and Viola Quinn Rose.

Eleanor was a homemaker, mother and grandmother and was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman. She was the past president of the Christian Mothers at St. Mary's Parish and was also a parish representative of N.C.C.W.

Mrs. Moran was the first teacher's aide at St. Mary's School. She also taught CCD and Sunday school and was a former member of the Christian Family Movement.

Surviving are 10 children and their spouses, Kathy and James Meissner of Butler, Virginia Nosse of Butler, Michael Moran of Pittsburgh, Miriam Duckworth of Irvine, Calif., Timothy and Cheryl Moran of Butler, John and Theresa Moran of Connecticut, Richard and Debra Moran of Butler, Elizabeth and Paul McGrady of Butler, Mary Theresa and Mike Peterson of Bemidji, Minn., and Terrance Moran of Butler; two sisters, Mary Stella Rose and Margaret Bruner, both of Pittsburgh; 31 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was the widow of Walter R. "Mike" Moran. They were married Nov. 18, 1938, and he preceded her in death June 26, 1998.

Her daughter, Rita Romano, died March 7, 2004, and her grandson, Jeremy Moran, also preceded her in death in 1988.

She was one of 10 children in her immediate family and was preceded by three brothers, William A. Rose, George Rose and David O. Rose; and four sisters, Genevieve R. Smith, Catherine R. Kirby, Aquin Eaton and Virginia R. Dedig.

<B>MORAN</B> — Friends of Eleanor Marie Rose Moran, who died Friday, July 11, 2008, will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at <B>the Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman with Fr. Gary Stakem, O.F.M. Cap., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Institute for Renal Cell Cancer Research.
