BC3 plans commencement for May 19 at field house
BUTLER TWP - Butler County Community College will have its 39th commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. May 19 in the BC3 Field House.
This year's featured speaker is Pennsylvania first lady Marjorie Rendell, a judge in the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
The alumni speaker will be Nicholas Toubakaris, president of O.H. Nicholas Transfer and Storage in Butler and a recipient of a BC3 Distinguished Alumni Award for 2005.
The student speaker will be Maggie McClaine, former chairperson of the executive council for students and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Faculty marshals are David Schiebel and Frances Spiegelmeyer.
According to BC3 registrar Ruth Scott, 474 students are eligible to participate in graduation. Of those, 110 will receive an associate in arts degree, 49 will receive associate in science degrees, 273 will receive associate in applied science degrees, 34 will receive certificates and eight will receive diplomas.
Of those who are eligible, 200 to 250 graduates are expected to march in the ceremony.
The nurses' pinning ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. May 17 in the BC3 Succop Theater.
Both ceremonies will be taped and aired on Armstrong Channel 10 on these dates: 11 a.m. May 23 and 25; 8:30 p.m. May 24 and 26; 11 a.m. May 24 and 26; 8:30 p.m. May 23 and 25; and 3 p.m. May 29.
