11:31 a.m. Monday — A child was hurt in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash at West New Castle Street and Seventh Avenue.The crash happened when a van driven by Christine Wedlock, 35, of Renfrew struck the rear of a pickup truck driven by Larry Sequete, 60, of Butler. In turn, the pickup was pushed into the back of a car driven by James Burke, 54, of Lyndora.A 6-year-old girl riding in the van was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The girl was in a child safety seat.Friday — A Butler Township man reported that someone during the past several days stole a ladder from his van in the NAPA parking lot on West Jefferson Street. The 20-foot, two-piece ladder is valued at $150.4:37 a.m. Dec. 27 — Jason R. Zarnick, 29, faces drug charges after he suffered an apparent heroin overdose at his Orchard Avenue home. Police said Zarnick, who was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
9:24 a.m. Monday — Chelsea Heckert, 19, of Butler was hurt when the car she was driving rear-ended another vehicle at Duffy and Evans City roads. Police said Heckert suffered a foot injury in the crash. Rebecca Ruth, 32, of Butler was the other driver.4:43 p.m. Sunday — Vehicles driven by Shannon Thompson, 21, of Eau Claire and Kenneth Peth, 31, of East Butler collided on New Castle Road near the Sheetz store.7:49 a.m. Sunday — A pickup truck driven by Shannon Pataky, 27, of Butler skidded on an ice patch and slid into a business sign and small wagon along Route 8 South.3:04 p.m. Saturday — Christopher D. Gaiser was arrested for a parole violation after officers were called to a Meridian area home for a disturbance between Gaiser and his father. Police said they found the suspect with assorted drug contraband; he was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.1:05 p.m. Saturday — A 17-year-old Butler boy faces two traffic tickets after his car struck a sport utility vehicle on Litman Road. Following the collision, the car hit a guardrail. The boy, who police did not identify, was cited for driving too fast for conditions and a lane violation. Eric Letcher, 50, of Butler was driving the SUV.Saturday — Connie Orloski, 46, of Butler faces retail theft charges for allegedly shoplifting two flat-screen televisions and a tool set Nov. 28 from the Walmart in Butler Commons. Police said Orloski loaded the items into a cart that she pushed out the exit doors without paying for the merchandise.
Monday — About $1,500 worth of copper and aluminum was stolen from Chick Machine Inc. in Jefferson Township. The theft happened between Saturday and Monday.2:30 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Christine M. Meanor, 23, of Allison Park, Allegheny County, struck a utility pole along Sandy Hill Road in Middlesex Township. Police said Meanor was cited for careless driving.11:25 p.m. Friday — Clayton Shemela, 20, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 68 in Butler.
Monday — An unknown thief or thieves stole about $2,500 worth of copper, stainless steel and numerous tools from R.J. Brown River Towing on Mile Long Road in North Buffalo Township. The theft occurred between 2 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.
