Mary Joan Cheslock, 81, of Butler, formerly of Old Princeton Road in New Castle, died Thursday morning at the Chicora Medical Center.

She was born March 6, 1927, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Joseph Russo and Delphine (Nocera) Russo Pardick.

She was married to William A. Cheslock Jr., who died Dec. 23, 1977.

Mrs. Cheslock attended New Castle High School as a young lady, and she worked at Shenango Pottery for a brief time.

She was a member of the St. Vitus Church.

She enjoyed baking homemade cookies and pasta and was an avid bingo player.

She will be sadly missed by family and everyone who knew her.

She is survived by two daughters, Delphine M. Everetts of Butler and Peggy L. Gonzalez of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, William A. Cheslock Jr. of New Castle; two sisters, Fran Via of New Castle, and Antoinette Popio of Hambleton, W.Va.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Pardick; three brothers, Nick Russo, Frank Russo, and infant Frankie Russo; and two sisters, Lee Via and Margaret Rook.

<B>CHESLOCK </B>— Visitation for Mary Joan Cheslock, who died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home</B>, 926 Cunningham Ave., New Castle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Vitus Church. The Revs. Reginald Russo and Francis Russo, cousins of the deceased, will officiate. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.Online condolences can be sent to www.williamrogerdecarbo.com.
