Charles George Wagner

Charles George Wagner

Charles George Wagner, 77, of Butler passed away Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Charles was born Nov. 14, 1941, at the family home. The home, where Charles still lived, is on the farm settled by his great-great-grandparents.

Charles was the son of the late Clarence G. Wagner and Mathilda E. Binsack Wagner of Summit Township.

Charles, or Charlie, as he was known by friends, was a friendly, intelligent man, with a keen sense of humor. Some say he “had a way with words.”

Charles was a life-long member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler.

He was a student at Butler High School, Class of 1959.

In his younger years, he looked forward to going with his buddies to Emporium to deer camp to hunt.

Charles liked nature and planting a big garden. In his spare time, his hobby was repairing and restoring old key windup clocks. He was very good at repairing anything.

A hard worker, Charles began working during his teenage years.

He worked for Cashian Cramer, a local gas and oil producer. He worked on the rigs, pulling wells and laying gas lines. He also assisted in installing home submersible water pumps. After high school, he worked at Morrison's Candy Plant in Butler for a number of years. Later, he took over running the family farm, raising cattle and crops. He always raised a field of Christmas trees to sell.

Charles is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Lou Wagner; and numerous cousins, among them, Benjamin Kulin, Michael Kulin and Julia Boal; also special friends and neighbors.

WAGNER — Private funeral services for Charles George Wagner, who died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, will be at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Dr. Alden W. Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.Interment will be in Gruenwald Cemetery.
