The seventh annual Connoquenessing Creek Cleanup will be held Saturday, and volunteers are needed.

The stretch of the creek to be cleaned up Saturday, and again Sept. 8, is in Ellwood City.

Those interested in helping to remove tires and other debris from the creek will meet at 8 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 220 Fountain Ave., in Ellwood City.

In addition to pulling debris from the creek, volunteers are needed to assist with disposal of the debris at various access points along the creek along with other tasks.

The Allegheny Aquatic Alliance, which was formed to clean up Connoquenessing Creek, has removed 360,857 pounds of garbage from the 50-mile waterway, including 4,051 tires.
