CONNOQUENESSING TWP — About a year after township officials began publicly mulling the construction of a multi-million-dollar sewage treatment system, the municipality will host a second public meeting on the issue.

Officials will present revisions to the township’s Act 537 sewage treatment plan at a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the old National Guard Armory, 250 Kriess Road. On-hand will be township supervisors, the municipality’s solicitor, and a representative from Senate Engineering. The municipality will present updates to the plan and take public comment on the issue.

Last year the township published a $14.8 million project proposal that would construct a public sewage treatment system to serve some areas of the municipality. The project as presented last year would have taken five years to complete, and would have been broken into two phases.

At a public hearing on the plan held last year many township residents heavily criticized the proposal and said they objected to what they called a quick and secretive process.

Township supervisors have said they weren’t being secretive about the process behind compiling the plan, and had been talking publicly about the issue for two years.
