SUMMIT TWP — Police say a chaotic scene broke out at a Route 38 bar after a Concord Township man challenged the patrons there to fight him.

Three people have been charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct for their alleged roles in the brawl at Vin and Joe’s Inn on June 17 at 11:30 p.m.

According to a criminal complaint filed by state police, Thomas P. Crawford, 56, announced to the customers in the bar that “if anyone wanted to fight him, he was willing to step outside.”

This statement apparently provoked Larry A. Dittmer, 50, of Clearfield Township, who police say pushed Crawford to the ground and started to fight with him.

Amy L. Scott, 41, of Butler, a relative of Dittmer, is also charged. Scott allegedly went up to Crawford’s then-girlfriend in the bar and pulled her off her bar stool by her hair and kicked her multiple times, according to the complaint.

Charges were filed at the office of District Judge Lewis Stoughton, though the defendants have yet to be arraigned.
