Tuesday — Police filed drunken driving charges against Phillip V. Male, 42, of Zelienople, stemming from an 11:03 p.m. Sept. 10 traffic stop on South Sixth Avenue. Male was found with two tablets of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, according to court documents.In addition to driving under the influence, Male is charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.Monday — A boy's BMX NEXT bicycle was stolen from a fenced-in yard in the 100 block of North Washington Street. The bike, which is green and has a torn seat, and a black Mongoose helmet with the bike were taken between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The stolen property is valued at $85.
10:45 p.m. Saturday — Matthew William Weil, 23, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he was stopped for driving without headlights at East Main Street and Flower Avenue.
8 a.m. Tuesday — The St. Petersburg Post Office was evacuated and nearby roads closed after a suspicious package was reported outside the post office building in the borough.A customer had alerted authorities of the package — a brown suitcase — that was under a pine tree on the southeast corner of the building.The state police bomb squad responded and established a perimeter that closed the area around the post office.St. Petersburg and Foxburg volunteer firefighters also were called in to assist with traffic control near the Allegheny-Clarion Valley schools.The U.S. Postal Inspection Service was notified and brought in X-ray equipment to search the suitcase. The scan showed nothing inside.Postal service authorities opened the suitcase — it was empty.The tiny borough returned to normalcy around 10 a.m.
10:25 p.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when a car driven by Jessica L. Stiffy, 20, of Grove City struck one embankment and then another on Route 208 in Pine Township. Stiffy and her passenger, 19-year-old Kimberly Levan of Mercer, were taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries.Stiffy was wearing a seat belt; Levan was not. Police said Stiffy was cited for a lane violation.5:25 p.m. Tuesday — A tractor-trailer driven by Jeremy J. Bayer, 30, of Volant crashed on Route 19 in Springfield Township. Police said Bayer was cited for a lane violation.1:55 p.m. Tuesday — No one was injured in a four-vehicle, chain-reaction accident that occurred during a funeral procession on Route 66 near Route 128 in Manor Township.Police said the accident happened when a car driven by Katrina L. Livengood, 20, of Templeton struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle driven by Henry P. Toy Jr., 26, of Kittanning. The collision forced Toy's SUV into the back of car driven by Katie Titus, 18, of Kittanning; in turn, the car rear-ended a pickup truck driven by Sandra L. Berry, 54, of Kittanning.12:15 a.m. Saturday — A Slippery Rock man was allegedly drunk when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on East Valcourt Road near North Liberty Road in Liberty Township. Mercer County. Robert T. Fox, 43, who was wearing a helmet, was seriously injured in the crash.Police said Fox, who was treated for undisclosed injuries at Grove City Medical Center, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
