Eva Mae Pochet Byers
Eva Mae Pochet Byers, 88, of Butler, formerly of New Kensington, died peacefully on Wednesday.
Born Feb. 14, 1924, in Blairsville, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Agusta “Gussy” Pochet.
She attended Blairsville High School. During World War II, she worked at Kennametal making bullets for the troops while waiting for her husband to come home from the war.
Eva will be remembered for her quick wit and loving ways. Friends were made wherever she went. She loved her dog, Bengie, as well as baking, camping, traveling throughout the United States and spending time reminiscing with family. She was a member of the Mt. Chestnut Church and belonged to the National Campers and Hikers Association.
Surviving are her three daughters, Karen E (Jerry) Trauterman of Franklin Township, Brenda K. (Glenn) Perry of Richmond, Va., and Debbie S. (Thomas) McCorkle of Buffalo Township; grandchildren, Dawn Moore, Beth Chippewa, Billy Droste, Tom McCorkle Jr., Jeremy McCorkle and Julie Densmore; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 66 years, Harry Levi Byers Jr.; two brothers; and three sisters.
<B>BYERS</B> — Friends of Eva Mae Pochet Byers, who died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, will be received at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Jeffrey Curtis, her pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
