11:32 p.m. Saturday — Paul Crawford, 47, of Center was able to get out of his car unharmed after the car he was driving caught fire at South McKean and Cunningham streets.Police said Crawford was stopped at the intersection when the car malfunctioned and started to smoke. He was able to drift the car off the road where it ignited.3:35 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by Daniel W. Marshall, 54, of Center Township and a car driven by Darren Wirt, 77, of Butler collided at West Diamond and South Washington streets. Police said Wirt was cited for driving without insurance.

Sunday — Police reported a burglary at a Kelly Road home in Worth Township. Police did not know when the home was burglarized.Friday-Saturday — Fifteen people were arrested for driving under the influence during a DUI checkpoint on Route 8 in Middlesex Township that started at 11 a.m. Friday and ran until 4 p.m. Saturday. In addition to the DUI arrests, four people were cited for driving with suspended licenses, and two for underage driving. Officers issued 21 other traffic tickets.Friday — An MP3 player and tape deck were stolen between 11 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday from a vehicle parked at an Oneida Valley Road home in Washington Township.Thursday — A Lawrence County woman allegedly bounced checks last week totaling more than $500 at Fairground Market on Route 422 in Prospect. Police said the checks were on a closed account. Renee M. Burnworth, 30, is accused of writing the checks on a closed account. Police said she faces charges of theft by deception and bad checks.June 8 — An unknown thief between June 5 and 9 stole a 10,000-watt generator from a construction site on Old Route 422 in Franklin Township. Blonder Technical Services of Butler owns the generator valued at $2,500.

5:08 p.m. Saturday — A Butler County man faces hit-and-run and other charges stemming from a two-vehicle collision in Clarion Township that left one person injured.Police said the crash occurred when a truck driven by Garrett Mauthe, 33, of Bruin struck the rear of a car at Route 66 and Eberline Road. A 15-year-old passenger in the car driven by Debra Harmon, 44, of Summerville suffered a minor injury.Mauthe drove away after the wreck; his truck was found two hours later at a Rimersburg area home. But Mauthe, police said, fled and is being sought on numerous traffic charges in the crash.

3:50 p.m. Saturday — A motorcycle driven by Michael J. Perry, 43, of Pittsburgh and a car driven by Elizabeth A. Sears, 35, of Grove City collided on Route 258 in Springfield Township. Police said Perry, who was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries, faces a ticket for improper passing.12:15 a.m. Saturday — Zachary Scott Zahniser, 18, of Mercer was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Old Mercer Road in Springfield Township.5:11 a.m. Friday — An unknown white man stole cartons of cigarettes in a break-in at Joe's Gas Station and Garage on Route 19 in Springfield Township. The burglar, described as between 20 and 30 years old and wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt and jeans, threw a brick through a window to get into the business.Tuesday — An unspecified amount of scrap aluminum and copper was stolen in a burglary at a building in Springfield Township, just south of the East Lackawannock Township line. The burglary occurred June 8 or Tuesday.June 8 — Police filed drunken driving charges against David J. Macrae 36, of Grove City stemming from a 1:45 a.m. May 10 traffic stop at Route 208 and Interstate 79 in Springfield Township. Macrae also was charged with illegally passing another vehicle and two other traffic violations.8:04 a.m. June 6 — A car driven by Sylvester Ambrosini, 50, of New Castle and a sport utility vehicle driven by Tad Bingaman, 42, of Erie collided on Route 208 near I-79 in Springfield Township. Police said Ambrosini was cited for a lane violation.June 5 — An unknown burglar between June 2 and 5 stole jewelry, a garage door opener and a box of rolled pennies from a home on No. 2 Mine Road in Springfield Township.June 5 — Tod Richard Johnson, no age given, of Grove City and Steve Johnson, no age given, of Sarver allegedly stole two headlights and mounts in a theft at the Wal-Mart on West Main Street Extension in Pine Township. Police said both men were cited for retail theft for taking the property, valued at $156.
