Butler volleyball wins road match

Colton Welter had 14 kills Thursday as the Butler boys volleyball team defeated Pine-Richland, 3-1, on the road.

Scores were 24-26, 25-14, 25-22, 26-24.

Alex Montello tallied 22 assists and Cam Ray 25 passes for the Golden Tornado (5-4, 3-3), who play Friday at McDowell.

Softball

Lexie Hames tossed a five-hitter and belted a pair of home runs Thursday as Seneca Valley rolled past North Allegheny, 12-2, in six innings. She struck out three and allowed one earned run.

Hames collected four RBI in the contest. Her home runs came in the first and third innings.

Seneca Valley banged out 15 hits in the victory. Mia Ryan had three hits, including a home run. Hayley Welter, Kara Pasquale and Maddie Gross had three hits each.

The Raiders travel to Hampton Friday.

Oil City 4, Slippery Rock 2 — A winning decision slipped from the grasp of the Slippery Rock softball team in the late going Wednesday.

Olivia Andreas and Emma Green smacked doubles and Ciana D’Antoni an RBI triple in the defeat. Paige Gresgott turned in three innings of work in the circle, ringing up seven Oiler batters.
