MIDGET FOOTBALL

Trailing by a touchdown after the first quarter, Center Township rallied for a 19-6 victory over Meridian in Butler Area Midget Football League play Saturday at Memorial Park.

Chase Rodgers got Meridian on the board with a 57-yard scoring run in the first quarter.

Jordan Lumley tied the game with a 1-yard plunge on the first play of the second quarter. Center Township took the lead later in the period when Craig Slomers ran 10 yards for a score on a fourth-and-4 play.

Slomers caught a pass from Todd Weist for the conversion.

Cole Baxter concluded the scoring for Center Township on a 31-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

East Butler 8, South Butler 0 -

Chad Walker scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter for the game's only score. Mike Ahrens added the conversion kick.

Penn Street 40, East Side 0 -

Brandon Taylor scored on a 1-yard run to open the scoring for Penn Street. John Cumpton returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown and Cody Conklin added the conversion run.

Conklin threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Brian Jendesky for a score and returned an interception 50 yards for another. Taylor added a touchdown on a 41-yard run and Cumpston ran nine yards for a TD.

Cody Kuhrt added a conversion kick to complete the scoring.

East Side 18, Penn Street 0 (junior varsity) -

All three East Side touchdowns were scored in the first half. Tommy Barnhart completed a 59-yard touchdown pass to Adam Gizienski, Demetrius Lockley returned a punt 60 yards for a score and Barnhart hooked up with Gizienski for a 60-yard touchdown pass.
