Clement, Butler defeat P-R, 7-2
Madden Clement struck out nine in five innings and Cooper Baxter tripled and homered Wednesday to lead Butler to a 7-2 Section 1-6A baseball win at Pine-Richland.
The Golden Tornado (8-1, 4-1) trailed 2-1 through five frames before scoring five times in the sixth. Clement had a double, single and RBI while Baxter scored two runs. Brady Gavula had a pair of singles and two RBI.
Ethan Trettel had two singles, Conner McTighe a triple and RBI for Butler. Colin Casteel was the winning pitcher in relief, striking out two in two innings.
The teams meet again at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Pullman Park.

Knoch 5, Freeport 4 — The Knights rallied from an early two-run deficit to win this road game in eight innings. Angelo DeLeonardis pitched the final 3.2 innings, striking out four to get the win.
Eli Sutton had a double and two singles for Knoch, raising his batting average to .600. His single drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth. Isaac Roddy and Anthony Grafton were both hit by pitches with the bases loaded to give the Knights a 5-2 lead in the inning. Freeport’s rally in the bottom of the frame fell short.
Softball
Winning pitcher Mackenzie Parks had two doubles, two singles and six RBI as Allegheny-Clarion Valley (2-1) rolled past Union, 19-4.
Meah Ielase had two doubles, a single and scored four runs while Bella Ielease contributed a home run, single, four RBI and two runs scored.

Boys Tennis
Mars’ Luke Raymundo and Tim Jayamohan reached the title match in Section 2-AA doubles Wednesay before dropping a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 decision to Beaver’s Andrew Cavett and Grady Johnson.
Raymundo and Jayamohan defeated teams from Ambridge and Beaver by scores of 10-0 and 10-2, respectively, before knocking off Central Valley’s Ryan Kerr and Andrew Yankello 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinal round.
Track and Field
Griffin Booher earned first place in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs while helping Karns City’s 4x800 relay team to victory as the Gremlin boys defeated Redbank Valley, 87-63.
McKenna Martin won the 100 dash and long jump as KC’s girls defeated Redbank, 78-72.
Moniteau’s 4x800 relay team of Abbey Jewart, Catherine Kelly, Jenna Zendron and Hannah Burgoon began a meet with Cranberry with a winning time of 11 minutes, 31 seconds. The Warriors went on to defeat the Berries, 97-53.
On the boys side, Cody Daniels claimed the high jump, triple jump, long jump, and 110 hurdles events as Moniteau bowed to Cranberry, 85-65.
