2:54 p.m. Friday — Jason W. Harvey, 26, of Butler is accused of hitting his girlfriend, 20-year-old Angela Cahill of Butler, during a domestic dispute at West Penn and Mercer streets. Harvey is charged with simple assault.Sept. 19 — Jeremy D. Whittington, 34, of Butler was arrested on charges he stole a wallet from a woman's purse at her West New Castle Street home. The wallet contained $4 and credit cards.A police report said Whittington admitted taking the wallet, and throwing it into a Dumpster. He is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
Sept. 16 — Four people were arrested for driving under the influence during a sobriety checkpoint on Route 19 in Cranberry Township. Police also arrested four people on drug charges.In all, police stopped 477 vehicles. Officers, in addition to the drunken driving and drug arrests, issued 14 traffic tickets and cited two people for providing false identification.
5 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Tonya S. Wright, 24, of Butler rear-ended a car at Route 68 near Buttercup School Road in Connoquenessing Township. Police said Wright was cited for careless driving. David Pitassi, 22, of Pittsburgh was driving the car.1 p.m. Saturday — An unidentified vehicle struck and sheared off a utility pole at Woodlands Road and Route 528 in Connoquenessing Township, and did not stop after the crash.12:30 p.m. Saturday — A maroon, 20-inch Nishik Bravo mountain bike was found on Route 38 in Concord Township. The owner can claim the bike by calling police at 724-284-8100.Saturday — An unknown burglar stole a spool of copper wire and two 5-gallon gas cans with gas after breaking into a barn at a home on Aggas Road in Center Township. The property, with an estimated value of $140, was taken between Wednesday and Saturday.2:40 p.m. Friday — Cars driven by Eric A. Drake, 21, and Nathan A. Pierce, 19, both of Slippery Rock collided at West Liberty and West Park roads in Worth Township. Police said Drake was cited for making an improper left turn.7:35 a.m. Friday — Two 14-year-old students face drug charges after one of the youths was caught selling three baggies of suspected marijuana to the other in the hallway at the Slippery Rock Middle School in Slippery Rock. Police did not identify either teenager, who are charged in juvenile court.The suspected seller, police said, is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony. The other student is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.Friday — A Sony PlayStation 3 video game console and four video games were stolen from a home on New Castle Road in Franklin Township. The property, valued at $540, was taken between Tuesday and Friday.Friday — Police filed criminal charges against Joshua D. Michael, 25, of Chicora stemming from a Sept. 13 altercation with another man in the parking lot at Alan’s Roadhouse in Petrolia. Michael allegedly hit 43-year-old Edward Heeter of Petrolia, who needed medical treatment of unspecified injuries.Michael is charged with simple assault and harassment.Thursday — Jewelry and personal documents were stolen in a burglary at a home at the Meadow Brook Apartments in Center Township. Police have no suspects in the burglary, which occurred between 10 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.Sept. 3 — Twelve feet of copper water line and 16 feet of copper wire were stolen from a Stonecliff Drive home in Franklin Township. The property, owned by E and E Development of Butler, was taken between Aug. 28 and Sept. 3.
