Rose 70th anniversary

The Roses in 1941

Ralph and Ruth Rose of Mechanicsburg celebrated 70 years of marriage with a family gathering.

Rose married the former Ruth Haignere on Aug. 16, 1941.

They have five children, Rhea Singsen of Camp Hill, Roland Rose of Gloversville, N.Y, Douglas Rose of Chesapeake, Va, Sylvia Rose of Rochester, N.Y. and Gayle Pinshaw of Waltham, Mass.

They also have seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Rose is retired from Battelle Memorial Institute, E. J. Lavino Co., and H.K. Porter & Co., Refractories Division. He was also a captain in the U.S. Army, having been sent to Burma in October 1944. Rose is a Fellow in the American Ceramic Society.

Mrs. Rose was a school nurse in the South Butler County Jointure school system. In retirement, she worked in the first recycling program in Bedford County, Va. Rose is active in The Presbyterian Church and was one of the first female elders.
