ADAMS TWP — A Pittsburgh woman faces numerous charges after allegedly stealing a Valencia man’s credit card and going on a shopping spree with it.

Police say Rebecca L. Paul, 33, stole Robert Vigue’s credit card when she visited his home in November.

Vigue told police he went to the bathroom at one point and left Paul unattended, with his wallet sitting on top of a dresser in his room, police reports state. The card was inside the wallet.

Paul left Vigue’s residence about 30 minutes before the first transaction with the stolen card was made at a Marathon gas station in Harmarville, according to reports. The card was used several times from Nov. 26 to 28, with purchases ranging from $2.49 to $100.

The total was eight separate transactions for $389.71 over the course of the three days.

Vigue said he received a text message from Sears MasterCard asking if he used the card at a Giant Eagle in Monroeville in the amount of about $92. That’s when Vigue realized his card had been stolen.

Vigue told police that Paul lived in the Plum area, which is near where the transactions were taking place.

Police obtained video footage of Paul in the Giant Eagle with her son, purchasing gift cards and a drink on Nov. 28 with the stolen card in hand.

Paul waived her charges Tuesday to county court, where she will be arraigned April 11. She faces one charge of theft and eight charges of accessing a device without authorization, all misdemeanors.
