Three players scored in double figures as the Butler County Community College men's basketball team defeated Potomac State, 50-47, on the road Monday night.

Potomac State is the defending Division 2 region champion and the Pioneers hadn't won there since 1988.

BC3 (15-7) trailed 33-24 at halftime before holding Potomac State to 14 points in the second half. Jeremy Peterson led the Pioneers with 14 points while Matt Lobaugh added 13 points and seven rebounds. Matt Goettler scored 10 points.

The Pioneers can wrap up the No. 2 seed for the playoffs if they win two of their next three games.

Adria Matonak, a junior guard on the St. John Fisher (N.Y.) women's basketball team, played key roles in victories over Ithaca College and Elmira College.In a 56-49 win over Ithaca Friday, the Butler grad scored 10 points. She had seven rebounds, five points and three steals in Saturday's 83-80 triumph over Elmira.

Union graduate Mary Jane Eaton, a senior forward on the Westminster College women's basketball team, was named Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week.Eaton averaged 21 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game vs. Waynesburg and Washington & Jefferson last week.

Grove City College junior Ben Haring was named Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week.Haring was a triple winner for the Wolverines in their 119-118 loss to Westminster, capturing the 50 freestyle and swimming a leg on the winning 400 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams.
