My wife and I recently attended the Butler County pinning ceremony on March 31 for area veterans commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. It was most meaningful to be included in this roomful of fellow service people being honored and thanked by our federal, state and local officials.

Later in the afternoon our day was made even more special when we were surprisingly treated by someone who paid for our lunch at Valley Dairy. I was checking out, and it was discovered that my bill had already been paid.

I want to publicly thank the responsible person for their act of kindness, and I wholeheartedly believe it was a continuation of "thanks to the Vietnam veteran" events of our day.
